Pete Johnson made this cigar for himself first. That is the whole origin story of the Tatuaje Black Label: a personal reserve blend that Johnson would hand out at events and to friends, a Nicaraguan puro built around Sun-Grown Criollo leaf that he kept for himself because it was too good to sell. Word traveled the way good cigars always make word travel, and by 2011 demand forced it into regular production. Now in 2026 the Black Label is marking 20 years, still rolled by the García family at My Father Cigars in Estelí, still a 100% Nicaraguan puro, still wearing that distinctively rustic Sun-Grown Criollo wrapper in a Colorado Oscuro shade.
